Choctaw County

It’s a great day in Choctaw County! On behalf of the Board of Supervisors and the citizens of Choctaw County, welcome to one of the greatest hidden treasures in Mississippi. We like to refer to it as home. Whether you are visiting friends and family in Weir, touring the historic district in French Camp, or shopping in the many stores in Ackerman, one thing that you will find all over our great county is the friendly people that call the place “Home.”

Choctaw County offers land rich in timber, crops, and coal. Our industries range from lumber production, flange manufacturing, electrical wiring harness manufacturing, coal mining, and one of the top energy producers in the south.

Also, in 2013, healthcare in Choctaw County made a giant leap forward with the completion of the Choctaw County Regional Medical Center. Our state of the art medical center is equipped with all the latest technology and equipment. With our wide range of businesses, Choctaw County boasts the fourth lowest tax rate in the great state of Mississippi.

Last, but not least, let me mention the wonderful recreation opportunities and beautiful scenery of Choctaw County. Enjoy a breath taking view of the sunset on top of “Little Mountain,” just off the historic Natchez Trace Parkway. Get out the boat and the camper and take part in the abundance of fishing, camping and trails at Choctaw Lake. Choctaw County offers wide variety of activities for the family.

In closing, welcome to Choctaw County, WELCOME HOME!

Chris McIntire,
Board of Supervisors – District 3 Supervisor
